Racer Session #365 | Tayler Tucker & Taylor Hanigosky | March 12, 2017
Greetings, Racers!
This weekend, we continue with our inadvertent theme of dance-based works with a presentation by mover/choreographer Tayler Tucker and visual artist Taylor Hanigosky. Joined by Luke Hagerman (bass), Ruby Dunphy (drums), Satchel Henneman (guitar), and Allison Burke (movement), this presentation is a preview of a larger durational work that they will premiere in April with a larger ensemble - including other members of the Racer community. More on that down the road. Below, find some words and media from the artists:
"I went to scratch my forehead is a collaborative project between Taylor Hanigosky and Tayler Tucker to construct an abstracted reality through multidisciplinary art. The Racer Session preview is a glimpse of the work-in-progress that has been developing over the past few months.
"Working fluidly across mediums of movement, sound and imagery enables the artists to transform an open space into a consuming environment. Six images were referenced to create an abstract but structured improvisation score between movement and sound in this exploration of the work-in-progress.
"Through this abstraction, larger, diverging and competing themes can exist simultaneously. For this exploration of I went to scratch my forehead, the artists seek to explore the dichotomy of physical connection (euphoria) and the physicality of disconnection (dystopia)."
