Racer Session #422 | Bryan Lineberry | May 13, 2018

Greetings, Racers!

This Sunday at 8pm, we are pleased to present a curation by alto saxophonist Bryan Lineberry. Bryan is a talented and earnest member of the Racer and greater Seattle scenes, enriching our communities through his work as a performer and with the Seattle Theater Group. Bryan has presented ensemble work at the Racer Sessions before, but this ensemble is brand-new, semi-improvised, and stacked with friends and heroes. It'll be an exciting night with what could only be an inspired jam session to follow.

Keep reading below for words from Bryan, and make sure you don't miss this session! See you on the other side.

"There are many musicians at Racer Sessions that leave their mark on me whenever I hear them play. They bring distinct sounds to the stand with great emotional depth and breadth and are able to make gold out of even the oddest personnel. They are also musicians that whenever I am lucky enough to join them on stage for a brief musical encounter, by the end of the session I feel the vastness of the unexplored. Like old friends exchanging sincere pleasantries after we haven’t seen each other in a long time, but don’t have the time to properly catch up and discuss the richness and complexities that we each have uncovered in our own lives.

With a few of these musicians and a loosely guided format, this evening’s approach is to create a space to share with each other and Café Racer the bare intimacies, passions, insecurities, cries, joys, angers, disappointments, and triumphs we’ve been experiencing without restraint. Please join Abbey Blackwell (bass), Ronan Delisle (guitar), Haley Freedlund (trombone), Chris Icasiano (drums), Neil Welch (tenor sax), Mike Gebhart (drums), and myself (alto sax) in wilin’ out."
