Racer Session #496 | Multi Player | November 10, 2019
Greetings, Racers!
This week we’re excited to present Seattle pianist/vibraphonist Matt Williams for his first Racer Session! A semi-recent transplant from Kansas City by way of Phoenix, Matt has been making his way through the local scene and establishing himself as a strong player and composer. In addition to groups under his own name, Matt also plays with our friends in Fig and February. This Sunday at 8pm, Matt will be premiering a new project for us, called Multi Player!
Multi Player is led by Matt, playing keyboards and vibraphones, and features drummer Evan Woodle, bassist Tony Lefaive and saxophonist Neil Welch. Together they coalesce to create music that makes your body move, your brain think, and your heart sing their catchy melodies.
Not to miss! Get yourself to Cafe Racer this Sunday - music at 8pm, jam session to follow. Read on for some words from Matt!

“This Sunday, Multi Player will be giving its debut performance at the Racer Sessions. I have thought deeply about debuting Multi Player at the Racer Sessions because in many ways the music we make could be a sort of antithesis to the music that often takes place at the Racer Session. However, we would like to give more thought to the tenets behind our music.
The friendships and connections to people that I am able to build in my projects is what I value most about them. Racer is often a place for those connections to happen as well.
For the improvisation portion of the racer session we would like to hear your personal voice while occupying a shared space. Leaving you to draw your own conclusions in approaching this apparent duality.”
