Dio & Loren Shoichi Temkin - November 16, 2014
Loren Shoichi Temkin and I will be playing some originals for this weeks curation—Loren on keys, and myself on drums. These songs came into being mostly from us just jamming and reviewing and reflecting upon the jams, looking for little moments where communication between us has been solid. This process has become extremely valuable in the development of our sound and process of making.
I believe that jamming with the thought of later self-reflection helps focus the mind and facilitates playing that has more intent and purpose of sound and experience.
For the jam session I would request that players consider thought into what experience or sound they wish to be a part of, and what they wish to share with the listening audience.
And afterwards, take the time to go back and listen to the sessions and see what you can get from yourself to perhaps further help the development of oneself as a musician with focus and intent in their playing.
