A Project of Table & Chairs in Seattle, WA

Racer Session #001 | Open Session | January 17, 2010

The long-awaited Racer Sessions for New, Experimental Music will be launched with its first installment this Sunday at 8pm.

A little about what to expect…

Before setting the weekly curator rotation in motion, we decided it would be a good idea to kick things off with a good, old-fashioned free jam session to give everyone a chance to meet and play with each other. The following week, our finely-tuned discourse will begin with a presentation by Neil Welch on a piece of new music. This blog will be updated on Monday the 18th with Neil’s explanation of his process and inspiration for creating his piece. On Sunday the 24th, his piece will be performed to open that night’s session. (Come right at 8, or you’ll miss it!!!!)

This Sunday, there will be a drum set, bass amp, guitar amp, keyboard and keyboard amp there for you to use. If you play an instrument that corresponds with any of these items, just bring your own bass, guitar, drumsticks, flange pedal…(you get it, right?)

If this endeavor sounds like something you’re interested in getting involved with, come on down to Racer on Sunday ready to create some spontaneously-composed, collective music. As Keith Jarrett says, “Don’t anticipate, just participate.”

Good! Get stoked! It’s gonna be great.

See you at Cafe Racer (5828 NE Roosevelt) at 8pm

P.S. If anyone has any questions regarding the duties of the weekly curator, how to become one, or you’d like to get on the mailing list, or anything else, you can email the board of trustees at racersessions@gmail.com
