Racer Session #258 | Neil Welch | February 1, 2015
“If the traces that the artist leaves in time constitute his deeds, the traces that he leaves in space should correctly be called his signs.” Italo Tomassoni, from the forward to Pollock: 80 Full-Color Plates
Every day I encounter artists that inspire and shock me with their work. Some of these creators are familiar to me, some new and others intimate. Tonight I share the stage with two musicians who create the kind of work I aspire to take part in. Along with drummer Gregg Keplinger and bassist Evan Flory-Barnes I will encounter older signs from the roots of my path as a musician. We will explore sounds and feelings rooted in the spirt of the great storyteller John Coltrane.
