Racer Session #482 | Idit Shner | July 28, 2019
Hello, Racers!
This Sunday, sandwiched between two great weeks of the Seattle Saxophone Institute summer camp, we’ll be hosting the great Dr. Idit Shner of Eugene, Oregon!
An active performer of both jazz and classical music, Idit has played in various distinguished venues in the United States and abroad, and currently plays with her jazz quartet in Eugene (where she lives and teaches collegiately), often playing in Portland, as well. Her latest project involves nursery rhymes and ancient melodies from the Jewish liturgy performed in a jazz setting. Idit is equally as accomplished and respected in the classical saxophone community.
Idit’s music is incredibly joyous, and we’re greatly looking forward to her thoughtful approach to music and community. Joining Idit will be Kelsey Mines on bass and Evan Woodle on drums. We hope that you’ll join us! As always, opening set starts at 8pm. Read on below for some words from Idit herself!

“A timeless melody transcends:
I want to take the president's latest ugly words (the whole "go back where you came from" business) and turn it into something beautiful - so get ready for a "melody potluck"!
I'll bring a few melodies from where I came from... think of a melody that you want to share. Maybe it's where you came from, maybe it's a melody your mom/aunt/grandma taught you. Looking forward to sharing and hearing some timeless melodies with you.
