Racer Session #326 | Ross Hammond | May 29, 2016
This week we're excited to welcome guitarist Ross Hammond to the Racer Sessions. Some of you fine folks may be familiar with Ross' performance series Nebraska Mondays, which takes place weekly down in Sacramento. This series is very similar is scope and feel to our own. Ross has always been a very supportive figure within his own community, and also very supportive of many avant Seattle bands on tour. Read below for some insight into Ross Hammond's performance at the Racer Sessions this Sunday:
"For my Racer set I’ll be playing music for acoustic resonator guitars. The pieces I’m presenting are linear improvisations hued with Appalachian Blues and folk songs. The metal bodied guitars I’m playing provide a lot of sustain and overtones the way a saxophone or brass instrument would. This and the dynamic of playing entirely acoustic adds new elements beyond just playing the music written on a page. Dynamics, room acoustics, sustain, the proximity and sensitivity of the audience etc will influence the sound of my set. I’m looking forward to presenting this collectoin of music at Racer. Holla!"

Ross Hammond (from Sacramento, CA) performed solo music for acoustic resonator guitars.
