Racer Session #385 | Trevor O'Loughlin | July 30, 2017

Greetings, Racers!

This Sunday at 8pm, we will welcome bassist Trevor O'Loughlin to the Racer stage for his first opening set. Trevor, in addition to being a lovely human, funny person, and friend to many, is a current student at Cornish College of the Arts, focusing on bass performance and composition. He has been attending Racer regularly since moving here a few years ago from California. He has written to us below, so read on and find us at Cafe Racer at 8pm on Sunday!

"I've always been a religious person. I was born and raised Catholic, and it has since been an integral part of my life. When I was younger, church made me feel a sense of fulfillment. In recent years, while I have lost faith in the church, the aspects of religion and spirituality are still prevalent in my life.

Music makes me feel the same sense of fulfillment as church did when I was a kid. And just as my religion has shifted to making music, I feel like my church has changed into the racer sessions–aside from the fact that it lands on a Sunday. And now it's my turn for some sort of sermon. While I am nervous as hell for this, I'm so excited to give back to this community playing music with people and musicians I love. Racer is good for the soul.

I will be playing some original works with my friends Michael Conklin on saxophone and Ruby Dunphy on drums."
