Racer Session #386 | Luke Woodle | August 6, 2017
Greetings Racers!
This weekend, drummer Luke Woodle presents a set of music for the session. Luke, who is based in LA and is currently spending the summer here in his hometown, draws from an eclectic musical background and loves to incorporate many different musical styles into his approach to improvisation and groove. He is heading into his 3rd year at the University of Southern California, where he studies with Peter Erskine, Ndugu Chancler, Roy McCurdy, and Aaron Serfaty.
He attributes a major part of his musical growth to studying with his cousin Evan Woodle, a founding member of Table & Chairs, who he studied with for a year when he was 12. "Evan gave me the tools and spurred inspiration to allow me to grow on my own until I was 18," says Luke.
Though there's no blog post this weekend, Luke is excited to share a set and stage with saxophonists Steve Treseler and Stuart MacDonald. They will be playing and collectively improvising as a trio over their favorite jazz standards and original music. We'll see you this Sunday at 8pm!
