Greetings, friends of the session!

We’re looking forward to jumping back into regular Racer Session programming, and this Sunday at 7pm we’ll be jumping back in with a great set of music from Seattle-based percussion and multimedia ensemble Striking Music.

Striking Music blends percussion, lighting effects, and sound design, for an excitingly intricate live music experience, and consists of percussionists Rebekah Ko, Storm Benjamin & James Doyle, lighting designer Kevin Blanquies, and sound designer Benjamin Marx. For their Racer Session, they’ll be bringing things down from the stage to the audience level, allowing for a sweet community experience of their music. Read on for some words from the ensemble, and in the mean time, we’ll look forward to seeing you at Cafe Racer on Sunday night!

“What a feeling to be sharing a stage again after two and half years. The last time we performed as a group was in a different world; playing music that wasn’t ours. I’d like to think of our time in hibernation as a creative retreat and opportunity to center ourselves, but in truth much time was spent fumbling in the dark. This year has been an exercise in perseverance and a good reminder that clarity is not gifted but rather something one works towards. We look forward to re-emerging now with different perspectives and the same love for what we do.”
